The Creation Of Three New States Of India
Three more states have been added to the list of Indian states. These are Uttaranchal, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. These are the 26ht, 27th and 28th states of the Indian Union. The Indian Parliament gave its approval for the formation of a new state of Uttaranchal on August 10, 2000. It is a small state carved out of Uttar Pradesh. It has 70 Assembly seats. Dehradun is the capital of this new state. Jharkhand is another new state which got the approval of the Parliament of India on 11th August, 2000. It was carved out of Bihar. Jharkhand has 18 districts, 14 Loksabha seats and 81 Assembly seats. Ranchi is the capital of the new state of Jharkhand. Chhattisgarh is yet another state formed on 11th August, 2000 with the approval of the Indian Parliament. It consists of 16 districts and has a population of 1.76 crore of which 78 lakhs are Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. It was carved out of Madhya Pradesh. Raipur is the capital of Chhattisgarh. These three new states are formed following a long time demand of the people of these places.
