The Centenary Of Swami Vivekananda's Chicago Speech
Swami Vivekananda reached South India having wandered the length and breadth of India on foot. Then his admirers and followers there requested him to represent Hinduism in the Parliament of Religions held at Chicago. In the meantime, Swamiji got the divine message from his Master Lord Sri Ramakrishna when he was meditating on a rock at Kanyakumari. He also got the consent and blessings of Holy Mother. At the Parliament of Religions, Swamiji addressed on 11th September, 1893 for the first time. There he spoke on Vedanta, which is the essence of Hinduism. Swamiji's lectures left a tremendous impact upon the minds of the people in America. Then he came back to India and founded the Ramakrishna Mission and Math for the service of the suffering of humanity. Swami Vivekananda's thoughts and ideas have enough relevance even today.
