The Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is a cenotaph i.e. a tomb or monument. It was built at Agra by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaj Mahal. The construction of this wonderful monument began in 1632. It took twenty years to complete the construction. About twenty thousand workers worked hard to finish it in 1645. This magnificent mausoleum was designed by a Persian architect named Ustad Isha. The Taj Mahal is a great example of massive grandeur and classic beauty. It is called one of 'the seven wonders' of the world. Thousands of tourists from home and abroad come to visit this mervellous tomb each and every year.
